Honor shares the first photos taken from the View 20's 48MP camera

Xiaomi isn't the only manufacturer set to launch a phone with a 48MP camera, as Honor confirmed today that its upcoming flagship will also sport Sony's IMX586 48MP imaging sensor at the back.

Honor also revealed that the phone will be powered by the Kirin 980, and that it will have an in-display cutout for the front camera. The timing suggests the upcoming flagship will be the View 20, which is slated for an unveil in Paris on January 22.

Honor is leveraging four-to-one pixel binning to produce better photos in low-light conditions, with the resultant images coming out at 12MP. Alongside the reveal, Honor shared the first set of photos taken with the 48MP camera:

Honor mentioned that the phone will take advantage of the dual NPU in the Kirin 980 to offer multi-frame image processing, with the brand touting image quality on par with "high-end single-lens reflex cameras." The View 20 will also offer a Link Turbo feature that seamlessly integrating both Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity for the best download speeds.
