BBC iPlayer app now available

As promised, the official BBC iPlayer app is now available on the Android Market for users in the UK. The free app offers a similar experience to the web-based mobile iPlayer that's been available on Android since last summer, but also introduces live streaming of five BBC TV channels and nine BBC radio stations. The fact that it's a native Android app allows for a smoother, sleeker UI, and there's also improved touchscreen functionality, including swiping between content panes.

Currently the iPlayer is only available to viewers in the UK, and requires Android 2.2 and Flash Player 10.1. Join us after the jump for the market link and QR code.
